Grovehill lessons and app
What is the difference between Private tutoring and Classroom?
Private tutoring means one-on-one sessions with an instructor — materials, focus, and schedule follow the student's needs and learning pace, and lessons can be online or through home visits. Classroom means learning in a small in-person class, with classmates, group discussion, and direct guidance from an instructor.
How much do lessons cost?
Private tutoring comes in three monthly packages: Starter at Rp 500,000 for beginners (A1–A2), Regular at Rp 800,000 for intermediate learners (B1–B2), and Intensive at Rp 1,200,000 for advanced learners (B2–C1). Classroom is Rp 150,000 per 8 sessions.
How many sessions are there in a month?
Private lessons include 8 sessions per month, online or through home visits according to the agreed schedule. Classroom session counts follow each class’s arrangements; the schedule and number of sessions are confirmed before learning begins.
Where do the lessons take place?
Private tutoring takes place online or through home visits, with a flexible schedule. Classroom takes place in person at Jl. SMP 12, Girian Indah, Kec. Girian, Kota Bitung, North Sulawesi (coordinates 1.453873, 125.140493).
Is there a trial lesson before registering?
Private lessons offer a free one-week trial with two sessions. Select your program in the registration form, then confirm availability and the schedule with the instructor.
What ages do you teach?
Three age groups: children (6–12 years), teens (13–17 years), and adults (18 and over). You choose the age group when filling in the registration form.
How do I register?
Fill in the form on the Register page. First choose who is registering: a parent or guardian registering a child or teenager, or an adult (18 and over) registering for themselves. Then enter the participant's details — name, age group, gender, active WhatsApp number, and home address — and the program you want: Private tutoring or Classroom. Your details are saved right away, and you can contact us on WhatsApp straight after to confirm and arrange the schedule. The WhatsApp message is already filled in with your registration details; just send it.
What is inside the Grovehill app?
Students access learning sessions, the Library, practice guides, and exercises through the LMS. Parents / guardians have a separate portal for progress recaps, monthly reports, learning plans, and payment administration.
How is progress reported to parents?
Parents / guardians can follow progress through monthly recaps and learning reports in their portal. They can also review upcoming learning plans and the ability assessments recorded by the instructor.
Is there homework between sessions?
Yes. There are weekly assignments and practice, given in two forms: printed sheets and through the Grovehill app.
Who teaches the lessons?
Grovehill instructors are experienced and accomplished educators. The team's qualifications and achievements include a double degree, Putri Kampus, Putra Kampus, Duta Bahasa, English debating, experience in teaching and education, and experience as a tourism tour guide.
How do parents log in to the app?
Open the Log in page, choose Orang tua (Parent) under Masuk sebagai (Sign in as), and use your child's account email and password. You go straight to the Ruang Orang Tua / Wali (Parent / Guardian) area, which shows only your child's progress, learning plan, and payments.
What is in the monthly recap for parents?
Once a month is over, the Parent / Guardian area shows a recap of that month as a set of slides: CEFR level, estimated vocabulary and how much it grew since the previous month, skills achieved, new skills, and ratings that improved. Earlier months stay available, and recaps can be shared.
How are students' skills assessed?
Instructors assess students using Grovehill's skills map, which combines CEFR levels (Pre-A1 to C2) with the six thinking processes of Bloom's Taxonomy, from remembering to creating. Each skill gets 1–5 stars based on what the instructor observes. Students see them in the Kemampuan (Skills) menu and parents in the Parent / Guardian area. A skill that has not been rated yet does not mean zero stars.
What is Pustaka (the Library)?
Pustaka is the learning library in the Grovehill App: articles, videos, audio, and PDFs organised by shelf and topic. Articles are available in Indonesian and English and can be printed for studying on paper.
What is the Latihan (Practice) menu?
A collection of English exercises for each CEFR level. Students choose a level, work through the exercises in order, and then check the answer key and explanations themselves — useful as extra practice beyond the instructor's assignments.
Are there reminders for lesson times?
Yes. Once notifications are allowed, the Grovehill App sends Google Meet and session reminders on time, and every notice can be found again in the notification centre.
Grovehill Coaching Hour FAQ
About the service
What is Grovehill Coaching Hour?
A by-appointment English consultation session. Students can bring a school assignment, a work project, or any English-related skill goal and get guided directly by a Grovehill tutor.
Who can join?
Only active Grovehill & Co students, in both Private Lessons and Classroom Lessons, together with their parents. The service is not open to the public.
How is it different from regular classes?
Regular classes follow the curriculum. Coaching Hour follows what you need right now, such as a speech next week or a work presentation the day after tomorrow.
What you can consult on
What can I bring to a session?
Anything related to English, for example:
- School assignments: debates, speeches, essays, journals, presentations
- Work: emails, presentations, reports, interview preparation
- Skill upgrades: speaking or writing practice, or test preparation
- Parents: your child's progress and the learning plan ahead
Is it okay if the assignment isn't from Grovehill?
Yes. That's exactly what Coaching Hour is for: helping with your English needs outside class.
Quota and fees
Is it free?
Yes, within a quota per semester:
| Participant | Free sessions per semester | Length per session |
|---|---|---|
| Private Lesson students | 4 sessions | 30 minutes |
| Classroom Lesson students | 4 sessions | 30 minutes |
| Parents | 4 sessions | 15–20 minutes |
What if I need more than the quota?
You can add sessions for Rp25,000–50,000 per 30 minutes, depending on available slots.
Can unused quota carry over to the next semester?
No. The quota is valid for the current semester only.
Schedule and booking
When is Coaching Hour open?
During fixed clinic hours, 2–3 slots a week (for example, Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning). The latest schedule is announced on WhatsApp and on Instagram @grovehillandco.
Where are the sessions held?
In the Grovehill classroom in Girian, Bitung, or online.
How do I book?
- Send a WhatsApp message to +62 851-7337-5328 at least one day before.
- Fill in a short form: your name, the type of task, the deadline, and the goal of the session.
- Send the material you want to discuss (the assignment, your draft, or the rubric from your teacher or office).
- Wait for the tutor to confirm the schedule.
Why do I need to send the material first?
So the tutor can study it before the session, and the 30 minutes go entirely to practice and improvement.
During and after the session
What happens during the session?
The tutor identifies the main problem, then guides and coaches you directly. The session ends with 2–3 steps for the student to work on afterwards.
Will I get notes after the session?
Yes. The tutor sends a short summary via WhatsApp or the Grovehill app, with points to improve and next steps.
Are sessions recorded?
Yes. Every session is logged in the Grovehill app (date, topic, outcome) as part of the student's progress report.
Rules
Can the tutor do my assignment for me?
No. Coaching Hour is a coaching service, not a ghostwriting service. The tutor guides, gives feedback, and coaches, but the work is still done by the student.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel or reschedule at least one day before. If you don't show up without notice, the session counts against that semester's quota.
What if I'm late?
The session still ends at the originally scheduled time, because the next slot may already be booked by another student.
For parents
What can parents consult on?
Your child's learning progress, the difficulties they face, and the learning plan ahead, including preparation for competitions or important school assignments.
Does my child have to come?
Not necessarily. Parents can come alone, with their child, or consult online.
Is there a fee?
No. Parents get four free consultations (15–20 minutes) each semester.
